Personal Chef extends the concept of the iCoaster device, originally designed for calorie measurement, into a more sophisticated and user-friendly application. Recognizing a market opportunity from the common complaints of moms who struggle to follow TV cooking programs without a recorder, and the increasing reliance on smartphones and tablets, we developed Personal Chef to meet these needs.

A Magical User Experience /

Personal Chef focuses on teaching users how to prepare healthy meals by following recipes step-by-step, and sharing cooking tips and comments through social media. The design aims to be visually appealing, warm, and to convey positive energy throughout the user experience.

Our approach is twofold: we expect users to either follow instructional demonstrations on each page to accomplish their tasks or navigate intuitively based on their experience. The interface is kept clean and simple, removing unnecessary elements to prevent confusion.

Users will make decisions on food selection from a broad perspective to specific details. Despite the digitally hand-drawn food illustrations, the focus is on ensuring interactivity and sensitivity between the user and their touchscreen.

Signal Paired Up /
​
Personal Chef activates by connecting to the iCoaster device via Bluetooth. The pairing process is similar to iCoaster's but includes an essential calibration step to ensure precision in weight measurement.

Progress Bar /
​
The progress bar is a thoughtful design feature that allows users to track their progress. A simple ball animation appears when cooking steps are completed, with each strip proceeding in a gradient color of the same palette family. This helps users see their current position and adjust each phase as needed.
